Title: History of the Universe #2 A single panel comic detailing the history of the toaster, beginning in 6th Century BC when toasting was used as a method to preserve bread. In the 16th century, toasting forks (of which several variations are drawn) became popular in England. The first electric toaster was introduced in 1898, and the first pop-up toaster was patented in 1921. Toaster variations from the 1920s, 1970s, and 2020s, are drawn to show the advancements in toaster technology and design over the last century, culminating in smart toasters today. In 2024, Counterbury Tales, a toaster themed webcomic began!
